Notice of Website Changes

Please Note

The format of the Complaint History Report has changed. Under the prior system, when an individual or entity operated under one or more business or trade names and had multiple complaints, users would see a series of entries with the same name. This is because a separate name entry had to be created for each name that the person or entity may have used when the complaint was filed. In order to obtain a comprehensive complaints history of the individual and his or her "doing business as" names, users would have to print out separate history reports for each name entry.

The database has been redesigned so that the "doing business as" designation is now replaced by the term "associated names" on a going forward basis. This allows us to associate multiple “doing business as” names to the same individual or entity. "Associated names" serves the same function as "doing business as". But, because users sometimes correlate "doing business as" with trade names, the field was renamed to apply to all types of names that may have been used by or associated with the same individual or entity, such as akas, fkas, dbas, maiden names, and aliases.

As such, users will see the following format changes in the report:

  1. The caption “Doing Business As”, as listed below, has been changed to "Associated Names."

  2. When reviewing the complaint history of a company or an individual with multiple associated names, the user will receive one report. However, the report will include a summary of any associated or other names used by the company or individual and will be segregated by each associated name. This allows the user to see which complaints relate to the associated name.
  3. As noted above, these changes are being made on a going-forward basis. This means that users may see a combination of the entry styles as we transition to the new format.
